    Pep Talk Time

For those of you on track to make your 50K: CONGRATULATIONS!
And for those of you a bit behind: YOU CAN DO IT!
And for those of you who are pretty sure you won’t catch up, here’s what my co-ML Paul posted on the MLs’ group on Facebook today:

Joanna Penn, one of the most successful indie authors of the last decade, has never won NaNoWriMo. She’s never even made it past 22,000 words. But every novel she’s “lost” NaNo with has been published and made her tens of thousands of dollars.

So stick with your novel, and stick with the SacNaNo year-round write-ins. Typing “The End” is what matters, not what month it is when you do it. And keep your eye on the success stories. Paul participated in NaNoWriMo several times before he finally finished and published his first novel. Now he has five titles on Amazon and is making money.

Everybody’s route to success is different. What the successes all have in common is that they stuck with it.

    Write-in Wroundup

Most NaNo regions report a big drop-off in participation midway through November. Maybe that’s happening here in Sacramento, but if so it’s hard to see. There were eight people at Monday’s Citrus Heights write-in and ten at yesterday’s gathering in Arden-Arcade. Your humble scribe has given up trying to keep count of the words written, but it’s pretty massive. Several members of SacNaNo have passed 50K. These folks continue to write while also cheering on the others.
